Oral Hygiene Instruction and Exam
Each individual’s dental needs are different. Our team will start with a Cavities Risk Assessment to see if your child’s teeth have or show signs of cavities. We will also go over oral hygiene instruction and guidance regarding diet, nutrition and oral habits.
Fluoride
Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay when used routinely in small amounts. It works by remineralizing teeth, disrupting bacteria’s ability to create acids, and making a tooth more cavity resistant. Fluoride occurs naturally in water and is found in many different foods and dental products such as toothpaste, mouth rinses, gels, foams, and supplements. Fluoride is effective when combined with a healthy diet and good oral hygiene. As with many things in life, too much of any one thing is often harmful. The same concept exists with the use of fluoride.
Fluoride Varnish
Fluoride Varnish can help prevent tooth decay, slow it down, or stop it from getting worse. Fluoride varnish is made of fluoride, a mineral that can strengthen tooth enamel (outer coating on teeth). Fluoride varnish treatments can best help prevent decay when a child is also brushing using the right amount of toothpaste with fluoride, flossing regularly, getting regular dental care, and eating a healthy diet.
Digital X-Rays
We only use low dose digital X-rays which provide 90% less radiation than traditional film.
